UK Road Tax Explained in Yorkshire
After completing your driving lessons in Yorkshire you must make sure you tax your car. This is called road tax and every car on the road has to have it unless it’s exempt for certain reasons.
Road tax in the past was calculated by your engine size, but times have changed and now the concerns for the environment are escalating, road tax is now mainly calculated by the amount of CO2 emission levels your car pumps out.
Our driving schools in Yorkshire try to use more economical cars to save the environment, as well as to save you money when taking driving tuition with us.
You can see your cars CO2 emissions by just simply referring to the logbook and looking for CO2 emissions.
Brackets are different for both new and used cars, however similarities between them are:
- They both range from band A-M
- They are both calculated on CO2 emissions
Having a used car can be just as beneficial as having a new car when it comes to paying road tax; however the older cars have to be higher up in the bands to pay the same as the newer cars normally.
Just make sure that after finishing your driving lessons in Yorkshire, that when buying your first car you need to look at how expensive it is going to be to tax. Whether it is going to be in the lower bands or the upper bands, plus whether you can in fact afford to tax it.
