Things You Should Prepare For When Going on Your Driving Lessons Manchester
Before you go on your driving lessons there are certain things that you must prepare. Some are compulsory and others you should do for your own benefit to make your lessons easier.
Prepare your documentation
You aren’t allowed to get behind the wheel of a car until you have your provisional driving licence. You can apply for your provisional driving license by collecting a form from your local post office, filling it out and sending it to the address you are instructed to do so; you can also do this online if you have access to the internet with an easy internet form. Your licence will then come through in the post and you must take this with you to your first driving lesson. You only need to present your licence on the first lesson, however keep it safe as you will need it for your driving test.
Prepare your eyesight
When you have your first lesson your driving instructor will check your eyesight by asking you to read out a number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres. To make sure your eyesight is up to scratch book an appointment with your local opticians in case you are in need of glasses.
Prepare for the code of practice
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a dangerous and illegal act, this may go without saying, but make sure you don’t drink alcohol or take drugs before going on driving lessons as your instructor will refuse to take you for safety reasons.
When going on your driving lessons Manchester suitable foot wear and clothing must be worn. Wearing clothing that limits movement can be dangerous as you may not be able to control the car. Suitable foot wear is very important as you must feel comfortable and in control when using the pedals. Clothes that have are uncomfortable can also be distracting and this may result in loss of concentration on the road.
You have to remember that if you forget about a driving lesson and your instructor turns up you may still be charged, many instructors require at least 24 hours notice for a cancellation and this is a vital thing all pupils should know.
Prepare for cowboy driving instructors
Make sure your instructor is qualified and DSA (driving standards agency) registered. It’s illegal for a person to charge for driving lessons in Manchester if they haven’t got the correct qualifications. A good way to check that you haven’t got a ‘cowboy’ instructor is if they have a badge displayed in the corner of their windscreen. This should be a pink or green badge depending if they’re fully qualified as an ADI or training as a PDI, don’t worry which one they have as both are qualified to teach you. There are not many of these around and to ensure you get a fully qualified driving instructor you’re best booking with a more established franchised driving school and not a one man band.
