Things to remember when driving abroad

When driving abroad there are a few differences to how they drive, imagine looking into a mirror and when you move your right arm, the mirror shows you lifting your left arm from your point of view. This is similar to how they drive abroad and you must remember a few things whilst you're driving over there.

Firstly they drive on the opposite side of the road, which means they go around the roundabout the opposite way around. On dual carriage ways they travel in the right hand lane as their normal lane position and the left lane is used for overtaking. Driving abroad isn't an easy task and it wouldn't be a bright idea for a leaner who has just passed their test to go abroad and start driving with little experience.

There has been many cases where accidents have occurred abroad down to drivers going around the roundabout the wrong way. This is simply because they switch off and revert back to what they were taught on their Driving Lessons Leeds. This is the next thing to remember when driving abroad, never switch off and enter into auto pilot. Ideally you shouldn't do this back home neither but doing the same journey to work and back everyday can get slightly monotonous.

Although this may sound crazy when driving abroad try to drive when more cars are out on the road. This way you're more focused and switched on. In addition to this you won't make the mistake of going the wrong way around a roundabout because there will be other cars going in the direction you need to. Although this doesn't work for everyone and others prefer a quite road so they don't have as much to deal with.

Speed limits abroad are also measured in Kilometers per hour and not miles per hour so speed limits will seem a lot faster abroad, although it is actually the same. When travelling on an A-road speed limits will usually be around 80 kilometer per hour but this can go up to 90 in Italy and 100 in Germany. On some German roads there are no general speed limits, these are called autobahns and traffic moves very quickly on them.

The final thing to remember when going abroad is to make sure that everything on your licence is up to date. Make sure the picture is within the last 5 years. In addition to this make sure that you have all your paperwork in order. Make sure the car is insured, taxed and has a valid M.O.T.

Note down all of the above for when you're planning on driving abroad and make sure that you can say you know and have all the above. This is the essential guide for when driving abroad and remember it when having fun in the sun!
