FAQ's About The Driving Theory Test

Pupils have many questions about the driving theory test, but there are certain ones that are more  frequently asked. We took the liberty of answering these  frequently asked questions to make sure you have no doubt in your mind about the driving theory test!

1.      How do I book a driving theory test?
Booking a driving theory test is very easy, it costs £31 and you must have your provisional driving licence and a bank card to pay the test fee. There aren’t certain websites for certain cities,  for example someone from Leeds will book their theory test on the same website as someone in London, and the only difference been that halfway through the booking process they will pick the closest test centre to them.

2.      Do I need to take my provisional licence to my test?
Yes, you need both parts of your provisional licence, photo card and paper, with you when you sit your theory. Be warned if you don’t have your provisional with you, the test  will be cancelled and you won’t get your test fee back. You will also need to take your provisional on your driving lessons in Leeds, usually only the first one, and with you on the day of your practical test.

3.      How many do I need to score on the multiple choice questions to pass?
You need to score 43 out of 50 to pass the multiple choice part of your theory. These questions come from a number of topics such as accidents, motorways and hazards. You may know some of the answers to these questions from taking driving lessons Leeds, however some you will need to learn by reading the Highway Code and practicing questions using a theory test question bank.

4.      How many do I need to score on the hazard perception test to pass?
You need to score 44 out of 75 on the hazard perception part of the test to pass. You will be shown 14 clips which feature everyday road scenes, 13 of the clips only has 1 hazard in, and the other has 2. If you have already starting taking driving lessons in Leeds you will find this part of the test slightly easier as you will be aware of what a hazard on the road is and how they develop.
