Does it Matter Where you Buy your Fuel From?
Many say that it doesn't matter which fuel station you buy from, fuel is fuel right? However some speculate to if fuel is better if it's filtered at the pump and the quality of the fuel that you buy.
Take the company Shell for example. They claim that their fuel is quality and that it cleans and protects your engine, but is it just the same as any other station use, just marketed better? Is it just one of the many fuel myths? Some do believe that they get more miles per gallon at higher end stations such as Shell and BP as opposed to the super market stations. However this could be argued to be false data as you can't always drive changing up gears at the exact same. Not doing so would lead to inconsistencies in how much fuel is burnt with higher RPM, thus returning a biased result.
Also the higher miles per gallon may come at a cost that just simply isn't worth paying for the return you get. Most super market stations are cheaper than individual fuel companies and it's also very convenient as when doing the weekly shop you can also get your fuel.
Some car enthusiasts believe that their car or motorbike engines sound smoother and better when using high-end fuel stations, but for the normal everyday person they're more interested in the cost of it rather than the sound of the engine.
One thing that does affect your fuel however is if the station you're fuelling up from is having their tank topped up by a tanker. When the underground tanks are being topped up in fuel stations it creates turbulence which causes sediments to be present. This then clogs up your fuel filter and sensor which could cause damage to your car. If you see a tanker then go back another day or visit another station.
What do the professionals of the driving industry think though? When on your driving lessons Birmingham your instructor has to put fuel in their car so what's their opinion? As you can imagine they need to get the most miles per gallon from their fuel to give you the cheapest possible driving lessons so the most cost efficient fuel is their favourite as their vehicles are work engines and are changed every several years regardless which fuel is used.
So does it really matter where you buy your fuel from? In conclusion to the above it seems to be that some is cleaner than others for your engine and if you're planning to have the car throughout its lifetime it's probably better to keep you car on quality fuel, however it seems to be such a slight difference it doesn't really matter where you buy your fuel from!
